El Vapor is a special selection of coffee from CoopeDota, one of Costa Rica’s finest cooperatives located in the town of Santa Maria de Dota. CoopeDota was founded in 1960 and currently has 850 members. It is the FIRST CERTIFIED CARBON-NEUTRAL coffee exporter in the world… yeah, you read that right. But CoopeDota’s excellence doesn’t end there, the cooperative integrates social services and environmental protections all while producing some of the highest quality coffee available in Costa Rica. CoopeDota’s produces significant volume with farms spanning deep into central Costa Rica, however, they are also deeply invested in highlighting top tier microlots such as El Vapor. The cooperative also provides members with educational opportunities in addition to wet and dry milling services.

El Vapor is comprised of the Caturra and Catuaí varieties which were hand picked at peak ripeness and were naturally processed. The natural process typically produces loud, fruit forward and round/weighted cups of coffee. This coffee however, is a bit of a unicorn. El Vapor comes across more delicate and brighter than the ‘typical naturally processed cup profile’ with florals, stone fruits, and a refreshing limey acidity from beginning to end. In the cup you can expect a peach ring-like sweetness that is highlighted by a backing rose water and lime-like acidity that brightens the cup while adding dimension and complexity, all while being grounded by a round note of plum that coats the pallet. El Vapor is an extremely clean and crisp natural that stands out in the best way to the vetted coffee head and first-time-natural-sipper alike!
